Our inaugural print publication will be released in November 2019.
Please see our submissions page for submission details.
Our print publication will include art and poetry celebrating rural experience and sense of place.
Publications are currently planned biannually.
The plan is 300 copies per issue, 48 pages, 30-40 poets per issue, and 6-10 pieces of artwork are planned. Saddle-stitched, printed and bound in Maine. Each contributor will receive a copy. A release party will be held for the inaugural edition, more info on that will come later.
Western Waldo Review’s print publication will be printed using the Baskerville 10 Pro typeface. We have chosen this typeface for a number of reasons, including that “when composing the pages, Baskerville emphasized the importance of the blank space, just as the effect of the majestic austerity of the setting, which became an inspiration for Neo-classical typographers. He strove to remove everything which obstructs legibility, working without ornaments and rules, neatly, and with large margins.” (Quote from the Storm Type Foundry website).
František Štorm and his Storm Type Foundry designed Baskerville 10 Pro to closely match original Baskerville type design. It is an elegant, legible, and historically notable typeface.
